Correspondence, July 13, 1845, from Billings, Sailing Master, U.S.S. Servoer (Surveyor?), Detroit (Mich.), to a Capt. Williams, concerning the extra time it took to sail from Buffalo to Detroit because of a defective compass. The handwritten letter is difficult to read so a typed transcript (1 p.) is included.
